Halloween Film Night Parties

Happy Halloween! For some people Halloween is a night for dressing up, getting drunk and groping naughty (zombie) nurses but I’m a purist (with no social life) and I think it’s a night for staying in and watching scary movies while eating a child’s weight in chocolate. So if you’re interested in doing the same here are some suggestions for your Halloween Film night;

The Fun Night

On the billing here needs to be films that give you the gore and the scares and if you’re really lucky make you laugh too. The film that should take top billing is defiantly Shawn of The Dead, as it manages to be both gross and hilarious. Here’s a list for the perfect Fun Horror Movie Night ;

  • Shawn of The Dead
  • Beetlejuice
  • Zombieland
  • Ghostbusters
  • Army of Darkness

The Classics Night

This is my favourite kind of Horror movie night, where everyone gets together to watch some of the films that made the genre. Nightmare On Elm Street is a good way to start the night and the rest of these films will help everyone relive the classics ;

  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • Halloween
  • Friday The 13th
  • The Evil Dead
  • Poltergeist
  • The Thing
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Franchise Night

This night involves watching every film from a certain franchise, so the choice of franchise needs to be carefully considered. There are twelve films in the Friday the 13th Franchise so unless you want to keep your Halloween night going until Bonfire Night, it’s not the best pick. Scream is a great Franchise for this night, each film is fun and scary and unlike some of the other franchises the production values don’t decrease with each film. Here are some suggestions ;

  • Alien Franchise
  •  Omen Franchise
  • Child’s Play Franchise
  • Final Destination Franchise
  • Saw Franchise

The Terrifying Night

For this night you can pick films that are universally considered to be pant-wettingly scary or you can ask your guests what film they would never watch alone and compile your list from their answers. The Descent is a genuinely terrifying film and will scare the pants off everyone and set the mood for the night nicely, some more suggestions are ;

  • Paranormal Activity
  • (Rec)
  • Se7en
  • Audition
  • The Collector
